At REFISHED, we have opted for upcycling as the most environmentally friendly production process in order to manufacture our bags under fair conditions. In this article, we would like to break down the production process that each of our bags, which are produced in Cambodia, goes through.
- First, the fish food and cement bags and other scraps of fabric are collected or bought at a local market. As some materials are limited, we can never guarantee how long a bag will be available in a particular colour.
- These are then cleaned and the bags sewn in the social workshop in Cambodia. Who produces the bags? Get to know all the seamstresses on our website.
- As soon as enough bags have been produced, they are flown to Vienna. We try to keep our transport routes as short as possible, which is why production always takes place where the materials are sourced. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to avoid flying.
- In Vienna, our bags are stored and displayed in our store in the 9th district. They can be purchased directly here. All orders received in our online shop are also dispatched from here.
What is upcycling anyway? And why not recycling? You can find the explanation here.
